Getting to Vila Real de Santo Antonio

Getting to Vila Real de Santo Antonio from Faro airport couldn't be easier. The most convenient way is to take the shuttle transfer service from Faro airport to the marina office in the harbour of Vila Real de Santo Antonio. It costs approximately 29 euros per person and can be booked online at www.shuttledirect.com or Resorthoppa. They aim to have you away from the airport within half an hour of your flight landing. Transfers must be booked AT LEAST 30 hours in advance so it is advisable to book your return transfer when booking your outbound transfer.

Another economical way is to take the scenic train from Faro to Vila Real de Santo Antonio. The taxi fare between the airport and the train station costs about 12 euros and the train fare is 4.55 euros per person. The Portuguese taxi drivers may try to tell you there are no trains on a Sunday in an attempt to get you to hire them, at a cost of 70 euros or more, for the journey to Vila Real de Santo Antonio instead of catching the train. This is complete rubbish!! The train journey takes just over 1 hour and departure times from Faro on a Sunday are: 12.25; 14.34; 16.23; 17.29 and 19.24 (times may change, however we will happily check them for you just before your journey or you can look direct at www.cp.pt). The marina is just a 10 minute walk away from the station (see map below).
