Getting to Ayamonte Marina

Getting to Ayamonte from Faro airport couldn't be easier. The most convenient way is to take a shuttle transfer service (shared bus) direct from Faro airport to the marina or to the Hotel Ayamonte Center (American spelling) which is next to the marina. It costs approximately 29 euros per person and can be booked online at www.shuttledirect.com, Yellow Fish, Best Transfers, Greenbus or Resorthoppa amongst others. They aim to have you away from the airport within half an hour of your flight landing. Transfers must be booked AT LEAST 30 hours in advance so it is advisable to book your return transfer when booking your outbound transfer.

Another economical way if you have plenty of time and a sense of adventure is to take the scenic train from Faro to Vila Real de Santo Antonio, a short walk to the river and take the passenger ferry across to Spain. It is then a short walk back down the riverside to Ayamonte marina. The taxi fare between the airport and the train station costs about 12 euros and the train fare is approximately 5 euros per person. The ferry fare is about 1.50 euros. The ferries usually stop at 6 or 7pm though. The train journey takes just over 1 hour. To consult departure times, the train website is www.cp.pt). The ferry terminal is just a 10 minute walk away from the station and Ayamonte marina is a further 10 minute walk from the ferry terminal (see map below).

Getting to Ayamonte marina from Seville is also very straightforward. You can pre-book one of the shuttle transfer services detailed above or there are daily air-conditioned coaches to Ayamonte from the Plaza de Armas bus station with the bus company Damas. Departure times from Seville to Ayamonte on a Sunday can be found on the following website www.damas-sa.es). The ticket costs around 10 euros and the journey takes 2 hours with a half hour stop in Huelva where you can actually get off the bus, stretch your legs and have a coffee if you wish. The marina is a 10 minute walk from the bus station (see map). A taxi or a private transfer from Faro to Ayamonte costs around 70 to 80 euros. A taxi from Vila Real de Santo Antonio to Ayamonte costs around 15 euros. A taxi from Seville airport to the Plaza de Armas bus station costs about 25 euros.
